I want to improve the (inter)personal effectiveness of our students

For a university or college to truly have impact, you need your students to perform well academically and professionally. Both are not achieved by solely providing students with academic knowledge and skills. For them to be truly successful in their academic and professional life, they need to be able to effectively manage themselves and their relationships with diverse others.

We offer science-based experiential training programs in which we help students to develop (inter)personal skills that help them connect better with themselves and each other, which will increase their well-being, engagement and their current and future performance.

It’s likely that most of what you currently learn at school will be irrelevant by the time you are 40… My best advice is to focus on personal resilience and emotional intelligence

Example training program

We are firm believers believers that skills programs for students should be embedded in their curriculum and aligned with their studies. Our student training programs focus on 3 different types of learning:

Formal learning: Each module starts with a small group training session, in which students get introduced to the topic, goals and exercises of the module. During the session students will also already start exploring, experimenting and practicing with the skills belonging to the module.

Experiential learning: In the weeks in between training session, students will keep on practicing with the skills belonging to the module, in the context of their own life, through the weekly exercises.

Social learning: Each module students will meet up with their buddy and reflect, share and learn by discussing the provided reflection questions.

Example modules are: self- and social awareness, emotional intelligence, stressmanagement, teamwork, intercultural competence, conflict management, personal branding and networking, professional conduct and power and influence

Student quotes

  • “The CPP classes have been of enormous advantage to me. Not only did it help me become more skilled in terms of professional conduct and provided me with useful skills such as active listening and having more meaningful conversations, but the biggest advantage for me personally is that it helped me in becoming more secure in myself. I have been very insecure for a very long time, and due to the CPP classes, I can finally say how proud I am of everything I have achieved and how confident I am that I will manage to become even more successful. Next to that, the CPP classes were a safe space for me where I would look forward to go to every month, and I really think that this program has been a great addition to my last year of studying at the Business School at the UvA.”

  • I loved the course, so many different factors when it comes to negotiation were covered and the group presentations even showed more factors, covering a lot. I learned a lot about value and how to set a good reservation point. The negotiation exercises in the class were also very handy, because we had to put in practice what we just learned.

  • “I think CPP has tremendous value and it’s a course like nothing else at the UvA. It’s a course about self improvement and a good blue print to become a better version of yourself and a better young professional. Lisanne is a very good and kind teacher with eye for everyone in the class. Job well done! Easily one of the most useful and best course during my 4 years at the UvA.”
